ABOUT LUKE
My love of clay began at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Initially I assumed I would be a biologist. I quickly realized it wasn't my cup of tea. I took a few art classes, and I was hooked. I learned art history and functional art is what I love. Pottery is the best of both worlds. It has been used to show what has been going on for thousands of years.
My work starts with creating simple geometric shapes. Wheel-thrown stoneware with clean lines and angles. My work is influenced by both the beauty of the earth and the importance of the past. I appreciate the way nature makes wonderful lines, from tall slender trees to hard-edged blades of grass and combine it with Mid-Century Modern to make my work.
